Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that his government’s goal to usher in reforms in India is not for the sake of temporary applause or compulsion but a bid to strengthen the country.

Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the 78th Independence Day, PM Modi shared a roadmap for India’s progress to make it ‘viksit’ (developed) by 2047 – the year we achieved 100 years to Independence.

He also honoured the brave hearts and freedom fighters of India and called them “azadi ke deewane,” who made us “fortunate to celebrate this Independence Day,”
